Epigenetics
Dr. Vett Lloyd has been working on epigenetics for more decades than she chooses to say.
Anne Berthold, a research associate in the lab, studies epigenetic changes in human cells infected with Borrelia.
Daniella Ibru is a master student studying the epigenetic basis of ticks infected with Borrelia, which are known to have more aggressive feeding habits and are therefore able to survive the winter.
Reza Dizaji, a master's student, researches the effects of Borrelia on the transcriptome and epigenome of wildlife.
Ali Moazezi received a doctor of veterinary medicine in Iran and specialized in small animal internal medicine. He is a visiting researcher over the summer 2023.
Human Health
During his time as an honours student in the lab, Chris Roy focused on the creation of transgenic ticks. But now during his master's degree, he is focusing on tick-borne diseases that affect various human tissue.
Amir Modirihamedan is a master student working to detect the relation between Borreliosis and Alzheimer disease.
Lauren Beghin is a master student researching the association between Borrelia burgdorferi infection and cancer.
Rachel Sokyrka is from Vancouver Island, British Columbia. During her independent study, she tested mosquitoes for the presence of Babesia. For her honours, Rachel will be determining if a single nucleotide polymorphism in the gene, ATG13, predisposes patients with Lyme disease to develop Lyme carditis.
Michael Hart is rejoining the team for the summer of 2023 to conduct research on human health.
Zoonotic Diseases
Jaclyn LeBlanc joined the lab in the fall of 2022 as an independent study student. Her honours research now focuses on the detection of bubonic plague (Yersenia pestis) in wildlife reservoirs.
Grace MacIntosh began her research in fall 2022 as an independent study student on the topic of Leptospirosis in mosquitoes. Now she is completing an honours thesis on tick epigenetics. She will be researching the association between pathogen infections and G9a gene transcription.

Geneticks
The Geneticks tick testing Atlantic Canada Branch is currently run by the lab manager Samantha Bishop, who has also recently completed her Master of Science in the Lloyd lab.
Anne Berthold has taken over as the lab manager while Samantha is on leave beginning in early fall 2022.
Rachel Sokyrka is also one of the current lab technician interns helping with the Geneticks tick testing.
Dr. Adil Khan, is an early career researcher from Pakistan interested in ticks and tick borne pathogens. He is joining the Lloyd lab for the summer 2023 as a visiting researcher and for coordinating Geneticks tick testing.
Chris Lewis is from Moncton, New Brunswick. He is a fourth year biology student currently working as a lab technician intern helping out with the Geneticks tick testing.
